Wednesday was a busy news day, topped with naming bridges after public figures, vaccines shipments, pricing of houses at national project, referral of husband to a criminal court.

 

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has ordered that the name of Egyptian gold medalist of Karate in Tokyo 2020, Feryal Abdulaziz, be given to a new major bridge that intersects over the Ring Road, on the Taha Hussien Axis, in the New Cairo’s district of Fifth Settlement. Other new bridges will be named after late Kafrawi, Omar Suleiman and Samir Ghanim.

 

The cabinet okayed on Wednesday the prices of houses to be implemented in New Valley and Damietta governorates within the ‘Housing for All Egyptians’ project.

 

Shipments of AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Pfizer vaccines will arrive in Egypt in late August, Health Minister Hala Zayed announced on Wednesday.

 

Also on Wednesday the Cabinet’s Media Center denied news reports about the government’s intention to liquidate the National Investment Bank.

 

Public Prosecutor Hamada el-Sawi ordered on Wednesday to refer a person to the Criminal Court over human trafficking in his wife and his children. The person was found to be forcing his wife and children in begging through violence and physical torture.

 

The Youth and Sports Ministry finalized all measures needed for the travel of the Egyptian Paralympic mission due to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. The Paralympics will start on August 24 and will conclude on September 5, 2021. The Games will feature 539 events across 22 sports.

A Russian media delegation visited the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC) in Fustat on Wednesday. The delegation arrived in Hurghada Monday after the resumption of tourism movement between Russia and Egypt.

 

Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros Adhanom revealed that if the current situation continues regarding the spread of the novel Covid-19 pandemic, infections, that reached 200 million last week, may hit 300 million cases at the start of 2022.
