SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt – The Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced that Banque Misr has pledged support for the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects.
In a statement released recently, the ministry said the bank representatives expressed willingness to finance the winning projects within the initiative.
This came during the participation of a Banque Misr delegation in a session organized by the ministry on the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, as part of the second-day activities of the Solutions Day taking place on the sidelines of the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference, COP27, currently held in Sharm El-Sheikh city.
The bank representatives said Banque Misr seeks to expand its portfolio of smart green projects in cooperation with international partners, in addition to considering the possibility of providing non-banking services by its subsidiaries to serve the initiative’s projects.
On her part, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el Saeed said her ministry is willing to enhance cooperation and partnership with different institutions to lure the necessary investments for backing the initiative.
She noticed the initiative represents a quantum leap in the mechanisms for addressing climate change and its repercussions in all Egyptian governorates, which is in line with the State’s strategy for making transition to a green economy and achieving sustainable development.
