Egypt’s Minister of State for Emigration and Expatriate Affairs Soha Gendy yesterday attended the Matareya Iftar in Ezbet Hamada in the Matareya area of Cairo Governorate.
“In Egypt, we collectively embrace the blessings of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan and Lent,” the minister said, adding that she was happy to accept the invitation to join 10,000 people in breaking the fast.
“Egypt has long been a beacon of tolerance, teaching the world to celebrate the arrival of various religious seasons with joy and without discrimination,” Gendy said.
Artists, media personalities, public figures, young Egyptian expats and tourists from Germany and Russia were present at the iftar, held for the tenth consecutive year.
