Egyptian Military Spokesman Ghareb Abdel Hafez lauded President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s decision to end the state of emergency in the country for the first time in years.
In a phone interview with Sada El Balad channel on Monday, the military spokesman congratulated the great Egyptian people on President Sisi’s decision, describing it as a great achievement.
“Today is a special day to the Armed Forces as it witnesses the graduation of new batches of the military academies,” the spokesman said.
The Armed Forces carried out 17 military drills in 2020 and 35 exercises in 2021, he said.
He cited the launch of the 5th edition of the annual “Protectors of Friendship” drill between Egypt and Russia at the East Cairo airbase in October.
Egypt and Sudan also launched joint exercise, dubbed “Guardian of the South-1”, at Mohamed Naguib Military Base on October 19, he noted.
