Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gomblat stressed the importance of keeping pace with technological advances, transferring advanced manufacturing technologies and expanding specialised training, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), to develop qualified scientific and technical cadres capable of meeting industry needs.
Gomblat made the remarks on Monday during a visit to the Ministry’s Science and Technology Centre of Excellence (STCE), where he reviewed ongoing research activities.
He received a briefing on research and development projects and their progress, as well as efforts to maximise the use of national scientific and research capabilities to support industry and strengthen manufacturing capacity.
The briefing highlighted key results from research projects, potential industrial applications and the use of AI to improve performance and operational efficiency. It also covered cooperation with affiliated companies, universities and research centres.
Gomblat reviewed the STCE’s technological capabilities and several ongoing research applications, stressing the need to turn research findings into practical solutions with a tangible impact on manufacturing.
He called for a supportive environment for innovation, continued training and self-learning, and encouraged researchers to develop ideas that improve the work system.
Gomblat said human resources are the cornerstone of any successful system, stressing the need for researchers to deliver tangible added value and for clear timelines to track research outcomes.
