The national project to preserve the entity of the Egyptian family, known as ‘Mawadda’, affiliated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, has launched the second phase of its initiative targeting border regions in the governorates of Aswan, North Sinai, South Sinai, the Red Sea, and Matrouh.
This phase aims to conduct 50 training sessions, benefiting up to 2,000 residents from the border areas.
The second phase began in Aswan, especially in the Nubian villages of Toshka, Kalabsha, Abu Simbel, and West Aswan, where about 277 individuals from the Nubian community have benefited.
The first phase of the border areas initiative targeted the same governorates. “Mawadda” has successfully trained around 832 beneficiaries on various key topics, such as effective communication strategies between spouses, the impact of customs and traditions on family relationships, ways to fight harmful practices and inherited beliefs, challenges facing youth during engagement and marriage, essential criteria for choosing a life partner, as well as positive parenting techniques.
The training sessions have contributed to raising awareness among participants about the importance of pre-marital medical check-ups, family planning, and birth control.
This initiative is part of the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s ongoing efforts to preserve the Egyptian family structure and secure a strong and cohesive societal fabric.
Launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in 2019, the initiative is implemented in collaboration with various government sectors, international organisations, and civil society institutions.
