CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan on Thursday issued a decision obliging trade union organisations to present their election programmes within a period not exceeding April 22.
Legal representatives of trade union organisations or their authorised delegates shall present the programmes that clarify the number of eligible members of the general assembly and the polling stations and their places.
Each programme shall be submitted in triplicate as well as a CD copy to be presented to the competent manpower directorate.
Saafan announced Wednesday nomination and elections dates for boards of trade unions, federations and unionist committees.
Nomination for trade unions boards is to open on June 11 while elections are to take place on June 16.
Also, candidacy for trade union federations will start on June 21 while elections will be held on June 26, according to a statement by the ministry on Wednesday.
As for nomination for unionist committees at trade unions, the statement said they will be held over two stages.
Candidacy for the first stage, that will include 15 trade unionist committees, will start on May 8-9 while elections will be held May 16.
The second stage will include 14 committees and elections will be held on May 29.
