CAIRO- Major challenges related to the industrial revolution and artificial intelligence will face the media industry in 2024, head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) Karam Gabr said Friday.
The technological revolution has created a very large market in Egypt and worldwide, Gabr added in a televised interview.
The electronic games market in Egypt is estimated at $1 billion annually, the SCMR head said.
A government committee is working to set controls for the content displayed by electronic platforms, such as Disney and Netflix, which make huge profits from subscriptions and seek to control the media in the world, he added.
Gabr warned of increased content that promotes homosexuality, extremism and atheism content.
Disney allocates half of its budget to producing films that promote homosexuality, he added.
Digital codes enable the content to be tracked. All countries protect their society from homosexuality, knowing that this does not conflict with freedoms, but rather is consistent with preserving the national security of youth in each country, Gabr said.
Awareness is the cornerstone of keeping countries from collapsing, Gabr said. “Some countries collapsed around us due to a lack of awareness, after their enemies succeeded in creating hostility and hatred between citizens and their homelands.”
He added that the love of homelands does not conflict with religion.
Gabr called for the criminalization of provoking strife in society, especially between Muslims and Copts, on a criminal, not a religious basis.
The relations between Al-Azhar and the Coptic Church are based on citizenship. It is not permissible for anyone to forbid congratulating Christians, or to oppose the Sham El-Nessim holiday, he added.
