Welcome to our News Digest;

Yesterday was a busy news day, topped with maiden Berenice Airport flight, joint Egyptian-Polish co-operation, new Sinovac shipment and train crash in Pakistan.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for boosting the role of the private sector as a key partner in economic growth and also overcoming any obstacles that may affect this role.

The president’s directives to this effect came during his meeting yesterday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and senior government officials.

EgyptAir flew its maiden flight to Berenice International Airport yesterday, signaling the new airport’s capacity to handle tourist traffic to and from the country’s world-famous resorts and attractions on the Red Sea coast, the Civil Aviation Ministry announced yesterday. The new airport is located south of Marsa Alam.

An Egyptian delegation led by Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Badr Abdel-Aati reviewed yesterday with a Polish delegation ways to promote political and economic ties, as well as tourism and cultural cooperation between both countries.

Egypt has received 500,000 doses of “Sinovac” vaccine, as part of the state’s plan to address the coronavirus pandemic and within the framework of the state efforts and its endeavors to coordinate action with authorities concerned to provide quantities of various coronavirus vaccines to inoculate citizens.

An express train collides with another in Pakistan before dawn yesterday, leading to the killing of at least 45 people, authorities said.

More than 100 were injured, and rescuers and villagers worked throughout the day to search wrinkled cars for survivors.

The United State of America has shortlisted Egypt to receive US vaccines against the coronavirus, the US embassy in Cairo announced via social media on Sunday.

“Of the first 25 million, 19 million will go to COVAX and 6 million will be targeted the shortlisted partners – including Egypt,” said the embassy.

The first batch of 25 million doses will come from Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
