Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed on Wednesday the need for all ministries to intensify efforts to address the geopolitical and economic challenges facing Egypt and the region, maintain adequate strategic reserves of essential commodities and petroleum products, and strengthen public awareness of the exceptional circumstances resulting from ongoing regional and international conflicts.
Chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting at the government headquarters in the New Capital, the prime minister said that safeguarding the domestic front requires efficient use of state resources, confidence in state institutions and continued public awareness, highlighting the role of religious and educational institutions in this regard.
Regarding the president-commissioned October Conference, the prime minister said ministerial workshops currently under way are intended to prepare a comprehensive presentation of achievements across sectors.
He stressed the importance of co-ordination among ministries and state agencies, engaging specialists and thought leaders, and addressing public concerns and questions transparently with a forward-looking vision.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly praised Tuesday’s meeting between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and senior state officials at the Strategic Command Headquarters.
He described the meeting as an important tradition for maintaining continuous communication, reviewing national issues and clarifying roles and responsibilities amid unprecedented global challenges, including slowing economic growth, the energy crisis and regional instability.
Madbouly also reviewed efforts to develop the mining sector and boost investor confidence by drawing on international expertise and exploring promising investment opportunities.
In this respect, the premier highlighted President Sisi’s participation in the Egypt Mining Forum and his meeting with the CEO of AngloGold Ashanti to discuss expanding gold exploration programmes in Egypt.
The prime minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment to facilitating investment and developing the mining sector as a contributor to the national economy.
Madbouly also highlighted his recent participation, on behalf of the president, in the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, noting the international appreciation of Egypt’s active regional and international role and its efforts to promote security, stability, de-escalation and political and diplomatic solutions to regional crises.
