Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed the government’s strong focus on developing Egypt’s Northwestern Coast and implementing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives for an integrated development plan to maximise the region’s diverse potential and resources.

Madbouly said development of the coast would go beyond tourism to include a range of economic and development activities, including new residential, productive and urban communities. The aim is to attract further investment across different sectors and accelerate development in the region.

He made the remarks during a meeting on Monday to review efforts to develop the Northwestern Coast. The meeting was attended by Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa El-Menshawy, Matrouh Governor Mohamed El-Zamlout, Assistant Adviser to the President for Urban Planning Ahmed Hisham Fadel, Director of the National Centre for Planning State Land Uses Nasser Fawzy, and a number of officials from relevant ministries and government agencies.

Madbouly said the meeting reviewed land inventories, allocations and existing development projects, as well as approved urban boundaries and proposed expansions along the Northwestern Coast and its urban hinterland.

He said the work forms part of an integrated development plan for the region covering economic, tourism, industrial, agricultural and urban activities.

The plan also aims to improve the quality of services and essential utilities for citizens, while developing the infrastructure needed to encourage investors to expand their investments and capitalise on the region’s opportunities and potential.

Madbouly said the integrated approach would support further development and urban expansion along the Northwestern Coast.
