Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Thursday stressed that the National Economic Transformation Programme is being developed as part of an ongoing effort to formulate an integrated economic vision reflecting the state’s priorities for the coming period.
Speaking during a meeting to review the latest developments in preparing the programme, the premier said the programme seeks to achieve greater alignment between fiscal and monetary policies, meet citizens’ needs, improve living standards and strengthen Egypt’s capacity for sustainable economic growth.
Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, and officials from the two ministries were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, Madbouly unveiled that the final draft will be presented to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ahead of its launch and implementation.
He also highlighted the programme’s objective of further expanding the private sector’s role across economic activities, creating a more favourable environment for investment and the business community, and providing greater support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship.
He stressed that the ultimate goal is to build a more productive and competitive economy driven by empowered and capable citizens who can participate effectively in economic activity and benefit directly from the fruits of development.
The prime minister noted that the discussions covered the key economic and development sectors underpinning the programme, as well as the socio-economic indicators and sustainable growth targets it seeks to achieve.
The meeting also examined measures to maximise the economic returns from existing state assets and infrastructure across these sectors.
The review further addressed the services provided to citizens, including healthcare, education and housing, alongside efforts to strengthen social protection.
Discussions also covered the programme’s targets through 2030, which aim to advance social and human development, raise citizens’ living standards and improve the efficiency and quality of services delivered across vital sectors.
