Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli inspected on Wednesday the Boghaz 24 project and the tourist promenade linking Marina (5) and Marina (7) during a tour of development projects being implemented by the Tourist Villages Authority at the Marina Tourist Centre.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing tourism infrastructure and supporting sustainable development along the North Coast.
During the tour, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa el-Menshawy said the Boghaz 24 project aims to restore and replenish the inland lagoons through the construction of a 220-metre inlet connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the lagoons.
She added that the project will support tourism development by utilising the coastal area between Marina 23 and Marina 24 for recreational purposes, while implementing coastal protection works, including breakwaters, to protect the shoreline from erosion.
The minister also explained that the tourist promenade linking Marina (5) and Marina (7) includes the construction of a 2,750-metre integrated waterfront promenade featuring landscaped green areas, trees, palm groves, flowerbeds and energy-efficient decorative lighting to enhance the area’s visual appeal and improve visitors’ experience.
Chairman of the Tourist Villages Authority Ahmed Moustafa said the shoreline in the Boghaz 24 area has retreated by up to 45 metres since 2017.
He noted that the project will also open up undeveloped land adjacent to the marina for tourism and urban development, creating new employment opportunities and supporting development programmes in the Marina Tourist Centre.
Regarding the tourist promenade, Moustafa said the project includes wide pedestrian walkways paved with high-quality interlocking stones, dedicated cycling lanes, seating and rest areas equipped with modern benches and wooden pergolas.
He added that the design incorporates accessible pathways for people with disabilities, alongside service kiosks, waiting areas and other recreational facilities, creating an integrated destination that enhances the tourism and cultural appeal of the Marina North Coast.
