Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli hailed on Monday efforts exerted to revamp archaeological buildings and make optimal use of them, stressing the State’s keenness to revive historical Cairo.
Madbouli’s remarks came during his inspection tour of Sultan Hussein Kamel Palace, which is being rehabilitated to be a complex for digital creativity and entrepreneurship. The palace is located in Heliopolis district, Cairo.
Madbouli was accompanied by Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anany, Education Minister Tarek Shawki, Local Development Minister Mahmoud Sharawi, Telecommunications Minister Amr Talaat, and Public Business Sector Minister Hisham Tawfiq, as well as Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal.
Talaat said that technological construction works are underway to turn the palace into a digital creativity center along with maintaining its architectural style and the heritage value of the building.
The center will include technological labs, labs for global companies, technological incubators for startups, a meeting hall, and co-working spaces, Talaat noted.
The minister pointed to the signing of a cooperation protocol among the Ministries of ICT, Education, and Public Business Sector to carry out the palace’s refurbishment, adding 85% of the construction works at the historical building have been finalized.
