Four hundred young women are to receive assistance as they enter the married state, thanks to a ministerial initiative.

Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag launched her ministry’s ‘Our Joys’ initiative for its second year to help brides-to-be from limited income families.

The initiative comes with the co-operation of the Hanan Al-Dunya Association.

The Association’s honorary president, Kuwaiti businessman Muhammad Al-Kandari, was present at the launch.

The minister said the family is the first building block for building society and a strong family means a healthy microcosm of society that invests in people by raising future generations.

The political leadership pays much attention to the Egyptian family and its development through the Mawaddah programme to prepare young people who are about to marry.

El-Qabbag said her ministry is concerned with the family and all aspects of its development and how it affects children, students, people with disabilities, pensioners, the elderly, women of childbearing age, and families living below the poverty line.

‘Our Joys’ helps orphans and families most in need by supplying household appliances and furniture for 400 brides in 19 governorates.
