In a decisive move to safeguard the nation’s energy infrastructure, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has reinforced its readiness to maintain uninterrupted power supply across Egypt, fully aligned with directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Officials announced that 2,500 megawatts of new renewable energy capacity will be added to the national grid before next summer, boosting Egypt’s efforts to diversify energy sources and expand clean energy generation.

During a meeting on Wednesday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Electricity Mahmoud Esmat, and Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi, President Sisi emphasised the critical importance of maintaining strategic reserves of petroleum products and ensuring that gas supplies meet both citizens’ needs and the requirements of productive sectors.

He also highlighted the necessity of securing the financial allocations for ongoing energy projects, describing energy security as a fundamental pillar of national security.

Modernisation, technology boost reliability

“Maintaining a reliable power supply is a national priority,” said Minister Esmat. He outlined the ministry’s comprehensive strategy to modernise Egypt’s electricity infrastructure, which includes advanced monitoring systems, smart grids, and upgraded transmission lines that allow real-time supervision and rapid response to potential faults, minimising the risk of outages.

“Technology plays a crucial role in ensuring secure and stable electricity,” the minister added, underscoring the government’s commitment to operational efficiency and service reliability.

Citizens are reassured that all necessary measures are in place to prevent power interruptions. The ministry encourages the public to report local power issues promptly, enabling faster resolution and contributing to the resilience of the national grid.

With these initiatives, Egypt continues to strengthen its energy security, uphold high service standards, and position the power sector as a cornerstone of national development.
