EL ALAMEIN — Egyptian smart technology company AVIRO has made its debut at El Alamein Airshow and Space Exhibition, unveiling a portfolio of locally developed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), electronic jamming systems and smart defence technologies.
Driven by an all-Egyptian team of engineers and specialists, the company is seeking to strengthen Egypt’s capabilities in high-tech aviation by combining local expertise and manufacturing with advances in artificial intelligence, aviation and aerospace technologies.
Speaking to The Egyptian Gazette on the sidelines of the exhibition, Dr Moustafa Abdel Razek of AVIRO said the company’s participation marked an important step in showcasing an ambitious Egyptian technology developer capable of delivering advanced solutions to meet the evolving requirements of the aviation and defence sectors.
AVIRO’s display featured an integrated range of tactical UAVs designed for civilian and defence applications, with their roles determined by the payload required for each mission.
Taking centre stage was the company’s fixed-wing Storm family, comprising the Storm 1, Storm 2 and Storm 3. The aircraft offer different ranges and technical capabilities, enabling them to undertake a variety of missions efficiently.
AVIRO also showcased its multi-rotor platforms, including a 10-inch model and the tactical Spider drone. According to the company, the Spider can carry different types of payloads and perform critical missions at ranges of up to 10 kilometres.
Dr Abdel Razek highlighted the locally developed technologies behind AVIRO’s UAV platforms, noting that the company’s engineers designed the ground control software as well as the customised autopilot systems for the Storm aircraft and multi-rotor drones.
AVIRO’s portfolio extends beyond reconnaissance and tactical UAVs to electronic protection, with the company displaying its Shield family of portable jamming and electronic countermeasure systems.
The Shield 1 is a backpack-configured electronic countermeasure system covering eight frequency bands, ranging from 400 MHz to 5.8 GHz, with an effective range of up to 3 kilometres.
The Shield 2 is a portable jamming gun designed to disrupt targeted signals at distances of up to 1,500 metres.
The systems underscore AVIRO’s focus on developing locally engineered technologies to address emerging and non-traditional threats.
Dr Abdel Razek described the El Alamein Airshow and Space Exhibition as an important platform for engaging directly with major international companies in the aviation and aerospace sectors and exchanging expertise on the latest technologies and platforms.
He said the company’s participation would also help AVIRO forge new partnerships, expand its domestic and international presence, and further develop its portfolio of smart technological systems.
