The killer of Mansoura University student Nayera Ashraf – Mohamed Adel – was executed on Wednesday after Egypt’s Cassation Court upheld the death sentence against him.
The cassation court rejected the appeal of Adel’s defense team after hearing arguments from four lawyers against the death sentence issued in July 2022.
The rulings cannot be appealed.
The Mansoura Criminal court found Mohamed Adel guilty of slaughtering and murdering his colleague Nayera Ashraf in front of the gates of Mansoura University.
During the trial, the prosecution presented to the court 25 eyewitnesses, including students and university guards who witnessed the stabbing of the 21-year-old student outside the gates of her University in the Nile Delta city of Mansoura.
