Minister of Justice Counselor Mahmoud Helmy El-Sherif received on Wednesday a high-level delegation from the People’s Republic of China to discuss ways to enhance bilateral co-operation in areas of mutual interest, particularly in legal, legislative, judicial, and institutional affairs.
The Chinese delegation was headed by Yu Hongqiu, Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and Vice Chairperson of the National Supervisory Commission.
Chinese Ambassador to Cairo Liao Liqiang, members of the Administrative Control Authority and the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, as well as several assistants to the Minister of Justice, were present at the meeting.
Welcoming the Chinese delegation at the start of the meeting, Minister El-Sherif underscored the depth of the historical and strategic relations between Egypt and China. He also highlighted the significant progress and constructive partnership achieved between the two countries across a range of fields.
El-Sherif further reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to opening new avenues for bilateral cooperation and facilitating the exchange of legislative and judicial expertise. He emphasised the importance of integrating institutional and oversight efforts to strengthen the rule of law, combat corruption, and promote an efficient and transparent institutional environment capable of supporting Egypt’s comprehensive development process.
The minister commended the role of the Administrative Control Authority in fostering institutional co-ordination and integration, particularly through its efforts to uphold the rule of law and strengthen integrity and accountability across state institutions.
For its part, the Chinese delegation reiterated China’s interest in further developing legal and institutional co-operation between the two countries in a manner that serves their mutual interests and supports their comprehensive strategic partnership.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain continued coordination to implement the outcomes of the discussions and translate the agreed-upon areas of cooperation into practical joint programs. These efforts are intended to contribute to building institutional capacity, promoting integrity, and further consolidating the principles of the rule of law in both countries.
