Dr Amr Adly, who is president of the Japanese-Egyptian University of Science and Technology (JUST), has been elected to full membership of the Egyptian Scientific Academy for his outstanding contributions to science.
Dr Adly received his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, US, in 1992. He is also a professor emeritus of electrical engineering at Cairo University and is currently president of the Japanese-Egyptian University of Science and Technology.
He has received numerous local, regional, and international awards, including the Order of Science and Arts, First Class, the State Appreciation Award in Engineering Sciences in 2016, the Outstanding Graduate Award from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland, USA, in 2016, and the IEEE Fellow from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2010.
He has also received the State Award for Excellence in Engineering Sciences in 2006, the Schuman Foundation Award for Arab Researchers in Engineering Sciences in 2002, and the State Encouragement Award in Engineering Sciences in 1994.
Dr. Adel has held several leadership positions, including: President of the Japanese-Egyptian University of Science and Technology, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Universities, Vice President of Cairo University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research among other.
