Egyptian Judges’ Club – under Chancellor Mohamed Abdel Mohsen – condemned statements issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on the lawsuits being examined at Egyptian courts and the sentences issued.
The UN commissioner’s statements claimed that prisoners underwent unjust trials several times, the club said, noting that the statements depended on baseless information.
In a statement, the club said the statements harm judicial independence in accordance with international charters.
The statements are considered an “unacceptable interference” in the Egyptian judiciary affairs.
The club expressed disappointment over issuing such statements from the UN right organisation commissioner.
The club called on all foreign and domestic organisations to abide by international charters and judicial traditions, urging them also to stay away from misleading information.
