The joint Egyptian-Greek military exercise codenamed “Medusa-15” began in Greece on Tuesday.
The several-day exercise, which will run for several days across the Mediterranean and a number of Greek air bases, involves elements of the Egyptian, Greek, Cypriot, French and Italian naval and air forces, air defence and reconnaissance units, as well as special forces, including paratroopers and commando units.
Operations began with Egyptian and Greek naval forces conducting a maritime passage exercise while en route to Greece, alongside theoretical and practical pre-exercise training aimed at harmonising combat concepts and exchanging expertise among the participating countries.
The exercise is expected to feature a range of activities including the management of naval and air combat operations against various threats, as well as drills, live-fire exercises and training to counter unconventional threats.
The activities are designed to demonstrate the advanced level of training and operational proficiency of the participating forces.
‘Medusa-15’ is part of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ programme of joint exercises with the armed forces of brotherly and friendly countries across various fields.
The exercises contribute to boosting military co-operation and facilitating the transfer of knowledge and the exchange of expertise in line with the latest tactics and modern combat methods.
