Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Swelim asserted that the coastal protection authority has implemented several projects in Beheira governorate in order to protect the coastal areas and investments established in them especially the natural gas and power stations along with archaeological sites in Abu Qir area.
The minister received a report from head of the coastal protection authority on the projects carried out in Beheira governorate to combat coastal decline resulting from global warming and rise in the sea water levels, causing coastal erosion.
The minister underlined the importance of such projects which were carried out along Abu Qir coastal line extending for 2.55 kilometres, along with the western bridge of the River Nile upstream of Rosetta extending for 2 kilometres, among others.
The projects are part of Egypt’s plan to implement climate adaptation projects in the Northern Coast, Nile Delta as well as other coastal governorates with a total cost of up to LE47 million using eco-friendly materials.
