Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilam extended greetings and appreciation to all ministry employees in various sectors on the occasion of Labour Day.

Sweilam praised irrigation workers for their continued efforts in serving citizens nationwide, stressing that their work reflects a long-standing culture of dedication and discipline within the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, in line with Egypt’s broader development efforts aimed at building a better future.

The minister noted that Labour Day coincides with the peak water demand period, underscoring the importance of maintaining full readiness in all ministry sectors.

He said the water system, including canals, drains, pumping stations, and hydraulic structures, is operating in a state of full preparedness to efficiently manage the increased demand for water during this critical phase.

He also stressed continued efforts to address and remove encroachments on watercourses, in coordination with relevant state authorities, while intensifying field monitoring and presence during holidays to prevent and promptly remove any violations affecting irrigation assets.

Sweilam expressed confidence that the efforts of ministry personnel during the upcoming peak demand period will be a key factor in ensuring success and securing water requirements for all users with the highest levels of efficiency.

He further noted that strengthening the ministry’s financial resources through optimizing asset utilization and improving the collection of dues from various entities has enabled enhanced support for employees and improved their financial conditions, alongside the development of social and medical services.

He added that training programmes and institutional restructuring have contributed to raising staff efficiency in different specialisations, improving overall performance and supporting the capacity of human resources to achieve the objectives of the second-generation water management system (2.0).
