Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation Rania al Mashat took part in a celebration held to mark the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Euro-Mediterranean-Arab Association (EMA) in the German capital, Berlin, with the participation of Egypt’s Ambassador to Germany Khaled Galal.
Mashat, delivering her speech via the video conference, expressed appreciation over her participation in the event as well as the launch of the third Mediterranean Summit.
The EMA is a regional association for German businesspeople and entrepreneurs engaged in fostering cooperation and international understanding between Germany, Europe, and the Mediterranean and Middle East region, Mashat said.
The minister hailed regional cooperation in the Mediterranean region, highlighting Egypt’s crucial role and participation in the multiple activities of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), since its inception in 2008.
Established 15 years ago upon the values and achievements of the Barcelona Process, the UfM emerged from the collective efforts of the leaders of the European Union and neighboring countries from the Southern and Eastern shores of the Mediterranean. It has since become an essential institutional framework for dialogue and cooperation in the region.
The EMA presents business opportunities to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), fosters the creation of sustainable partnerships, and advises member companies on initiating and implementing their plans. In addition, the EMA offers regional and country-specific forums, implements its own projects, and releases expert publications and market studies.
