The Interior Ministry has put into place a plan to secure Eidul Fitr celebrations across Egypt.
All sectors are on highest alert since the wee hours of Tuesday, a high-level security source told MENA.
Police are heavily deployed to main streets and squares, as well as public parks, cinemas and Nile anchorages that are frequented by citizens during the holidays, the source said.
Security has also been tightened in the vicinity of all vital facilities and places of worship, he added.
Fixed and mobile checkpoints are everywhere, the source noted.
