CAIRO – The Egyptian Interior Ministry has okayed an exceptional family visit to every inmate at correctional and rehabilitation centers across Egypt on the occasion of New Hijri year.
The gesture reflects keenness of the Interior Ministry to provide support and care for inmates of those centers by allowing them to meet their relatives on the different occasions.
The exceptional visits will be made on Sunday, August 1 till August 31, and won’t be counted as one of the scheduled encounters, the Ministry said in a statement on Friday according to MENA.
The move comes as part of efforts by the Interior Ministry to promote the values of human rights and apply a modern punishment approach, the statement added.
