CAIRO – Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir stressed Egypt’s keenness on promoting economic co-operation with Lebanon in various trade, industrial and investment domains.
There are great chances for joint investments and partnerships in view of the Egyptian market potentials, he said.
He made the remarks on Monday during the sixth session of the Egyptian Lebanese Businessmen Friendship Association.
He said the ministry was keen on enhancing co-operation between the two countries, referring to a rise in Egyptian imports from Lebanon by 71 per cent to reach about dlrs 228.5 million in 2021 against dlrs 133.8 million in 2020.
He noted that trade exchange between the two sides hit dlrs 579.5 million in 2021 against dlrs 427.8 million in 2020.
He said Egypt is open for Lebanese businessmen to invest in Egypt, noting that Lebanon is the 13th largest investor in Egypt with total investments standing at dlrs 1.28 billion.
