On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Egypt and Indonesia, Indonesian students in cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo and the Egyptian Youth Council cleaned the streets of the el-Darb el-Ahmar, a historical neighbourhood in Cairo, where thousands of Indonesians live.
Media and Cultural Counsellor at the Embassy Sudarsono Soedirlan said this initiative expresses the extent of the love and friendship of the Indonesian people in Egypt, which was the first country to recognise Indonesia’s independence.
More than 150 people participated in the event Saturday morning. They consisted of male and female students, diplomats, embassy staff, students of an Indonesian School in Cairo and their teachers in addition to a number of young Egyptian people.
