Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa and a delegation from Huawei Egypt, led by Chief Executive Officer Benjamin Hu, discussed on Thursday the company’s expansion plans in the Egyptian market, as well as ways to strengthen co-operation in information and communications technology (ICT), digital transformation and technology localisation.

Welcoming the delegation at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, Eissa highlighted the depth of Egypt-China relations and the growing interest of Chinese companies in investing in Egypt.

He also praised Huawei’s role in major infrastructure and digital projects, stressing the government’s commitment to supporting investors, improving the business climate and attracting global companies.

Eissa underlined the importance of the ICT sector as a key driver of economic growth and a priority under Egypt Vision 2030.

The deputy prime minister also emphasised the need to localisetechnology, transfer knowledge and expand training programmes to develop national talent, positioning Egypt as a regional hub for innovation and digital services.

Huawei’s delegation said the company has been operating in Egypt since 2000 and now has three branches, four global service centres and has created more than 3,000 jobs.

The delegation outlined Huawei’s activities in telecommunications networks, cloud computing, digital energy and smart devices, describing Egypt as a strategic market in the Middle East and Africa.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Egypt’s digital transformation through investment in research and development (R&D) and the expansion of its ICT academies to train young talent, in line with Egypt’s vision of becoming a leading regional hub for technology and innovation.
