The Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities continues to monitor the progress of the presidential initiative “Decent Life” aimed at upgrading villages across rural Egypt.Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, chaired a regular meeting to follow up on the first phase of projects under the ministry’s scope, covering drinking water, sanitation, and service facilities. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Ahmed Omran and senior officials from affiliated agencies.
The minister emphasized that “Decent Life” is one of Egypt’s largest development programs, designed to improve living standards and provide modern infrastructure for rural communities. She stressed the importance of accelerating implementation while maintaining high quality standards to ensure citizens benefit fully from state investments. Regular field monitoring, she noted, is essential to meet deadlines and achieve targets.
A detailed report presented during the meeting showed that 10,315 projects are being carried out in 746 villages across the first-phase governorates. These include sewage networks, drinking water connections, treatment plants, and service buildings. The minister directed officials to intensify on-site supervision, prepare accurate progress reports, and swiftly address challenges that may affect timelines.
El-Menshawy concluded by urging faster completion of projects and prioritizing those that enable integrated service systems, ensuring the initiative delivers sustainable improvements and a better quality of life for Egypt’s rural population.
