CAIRO – The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has announced the organisation of training courses for 1050 pharmacists working in the directorates of health affairs, hospitals, and health units across the governorates as part of the third phase of a training plan that started from January until March of the current year, aimed at qualifying and enhancing the efficiency of government pharmacists.

Official spokesman of the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar stated in Sunday’s statement that the courses targeted pharmacists in the governorates of Fayoum, Beni Suef, Gharbia, Cairo, Menoufia, Sharkia, Qalyubia, Port Said, Dakahlia, and Giza. In total, there were 37 training programmes organised in collaboration with the research and training sector of the Ministry of Health and Population, with the participation of health sectors, directorates, and experts in the field of pharmaceutical care.

He mentioned that the scientific training courses included technical and administrative programmes for all government pharmacists affiliated with the ministry, aiming to enhance the scientific proficiency of medical teams and improve the level of medical services they provide to citizens.

Moreover, a number of awareness and pharmaceutical education activities were implemented in healthcare facilities, focusing on raising awareness about the risks of misuse of antibiotics, analgesics, and vitamins, and the importance of optimal use of referenced medicines according to internationally recognised scientific standards.
