CAIRO – Egyptian Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said on Friday the political leadership pays attention to the overpopulation file, stressing the importance of sending family planning convoys to the villages to raise women’s awareness about the benefits of natural childbirth.

Abdel Ghaffar’s remarks came during his meeting with undersecretaries of the Health Ministries in the governorates of Qalyoubia, Dakahlia, and Gharbia to follow up on the health situation in these governorates, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s spokesman, said.

The minister directed the attendees to conduct a periodical report on progress achieved in the family planning file, the methods used, the number of female beneficiaries of the medical service, and the rates of natural and cesarean deliveries, in addition to preparing a list on the shortcomings of medical supplies and tools.

He directed to increase financial incentives for doctors who achieved the goal in the family planning file.

The minister also was briefed on the executive situation of medical facilities, which are being developed in the three governorates. In this regard, Abdel Ghaffar said progress rates range between 60% to 97%.

He followed up on the semi-annual performance indicators of the beneficiaries of the presidential health initiatives in these governorates and the number of vaccinated people against coronavirus.
