Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, chaired a meeting of the General Authority for Health Insurance’s board on Tuesday, to discuss co-operation initiatives and plans to improve medical services provided to citizens.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Health and Population Minister Amr Kandil, Authority Chairman Ahmed Mostafa and board members, reviewed a proposed co-operation protocol between Misr Insurance and the New Capital Hospital to provide treatment services to people not covered by the health insurance system on a case-by-case basis.
The board also discussed a proposed protocol between the Health Insurance Organisation and private technical nursing schools to provide training for students in line with standards approved by the ministries of health and population and education.
Minister Abdel-Ghaffar directed co-ordination with the Medical Professions Development Sector to review the schools’ licences and ensure compliance with approved regulations and standards.
The minister also reviewed a proposal to grant a concession for the management, operation and development of the organisation-owned New Heliopolis Hospital. He directed all relevant authorities to review the proposal as part of efforts to benefit from international management models and improve the quality of medical services.
