Egyptian Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar issued directives to prepare an integrated study to establish a large-scale centre for psychiatric and addiction recovery for the underprivileged people.
The move comes in line with the ministry’s strategy to improve and invest in health care for citizens, added Abdel Ghaffar during his weekly virtual meeting held with the ministry’s leaderships along with heads of organisations and the ministry’s undersecretaries in the governorates.
The meeting was held to discuss challenges and difficulties besetting the ministry in order to ensure that best medical services are offered to the patients.
During the meeting, the minister was also briefed on the plan of action of mental health and addiction treatment for year 2023, which includes offering societal services, programmes and health initiatives.
The meeting also tackled the plan related to establishing center of excellence to treat autism, said Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, adding that as many as 20 centres are scheduled to be established nationwide within the span of five years.
