CAIRO – The German University in Cairo (GUC) will mark on Wednesday the 20th anniversary of its establishment in Cairo and ten years over the establishment of its Berlin branch.
Professor Dr. Ashraf Mansour, GUC’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, will attend the event which will be held in Berlin and will witness the participation of 240 key university figures in Germany as well as a number of Arab, African and European ambassadors.
During this special event, GUC will reflect on the incredible milestones achieved in its journey, rejoice its exceptional present success, and plan a prosperous future.
GUC will hold a series of grand events as well as scientific, social, sports or cultural activities throughout the years 2022-2023.
In commemoration of the anniversary, GUC will also hold in both Egypt and Germany honoring events for core partners and people with whom it has achieved major accomplishments. Additionally, special highlight will be put on future plans and potentials.
The university expressed on its website gratitude to its founding universities of Ulm and Stuttgart, the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts, State of Baden- Württemberg, Germany.
In addition, it expressed gratitude to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Embassy in Cairo, the Arab/German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany, University of Tübingen, University of Mannheim and the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig for their exceptional efforts.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is considered one of the most important foundations supporting the establishment of the GUC since 2002 through 2022. DAAD is a well-established entity known of its profound support of scientific exchange between Germany and the world and particularly Egypt in particular.
Its mission lies primarily in providing grants to students across the world and working on enhancing communication between German researchers and scientists with their peers as well as strengthening partnership with German universities to enable them to integrate together globally to achieve their development goals.
The university added that it is new the leading transnational German university accounting for more than 40% of all students learning in a German institution outside German borders.
