On the sidelines of COP27, the Egyptian government signed partnership agreements and letters of intent with international financial institutions as well as multilateral and bilateral development partners to mobilise concessional development financing, technical support and private sector investments to implement the National Platform for Green Projects (NWFE).
NWFE is an integrated national programme and a regional and international approach to mobilise affordable green finance, innovative financing mechanisms, technical support grants, and private sector investment.
The programme includes nine priority projects in water, food and energy sectors to stimulate inclusive and sustainable growth and enhance food and water security, with total investments of $15 billion.
The projects target adaptation to and mitigation of the effects of climate change.
