Grand Mufti of Egypt Nazir Ayad received Ambassador Alaa Youssef, Chairman of the State Information Service, to discuss joint co-operation between Dar al‑Ifta and SIS in media and awareness fields. The talks focused on strengthening coordination to support efforts in building community awareness and addressing issues central to citizens’ lives, particularly family matters and reinforcing social cohesion.
During the meeting, Ayad underlined the importance of cooperation with SIS as a key institution for awareness and outreach, noting that synergy between religious and media bodies is vital in confronting intellectual and social challenges. He stressed that effective use of media tools can help stabilise families and society, promote values and identity, and spread enlightened religious discourse.
For his part, Ambassador Youssef praised Dar al‑Ifta’s role in promoting sound religious awareness and tackling societal issues, describing it as a cornerstone in awareness‑building. He emphasised that co-operation between SIS and Dar al‑Ifta would broaden the reach of awareness messages and harness both institutions’ expertise to address intellectual and social challenges.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for Dar al‑Ifta’s 11th International Conference, scheduled for September 2-3 in Cairo under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi. The conference, titled “Family Challenges in Times of Major Transformations: An Ifta Approach to Protecting Families, Anticipating Their Future and Safeguarding Identity,” will gather delegations from 80 countries along with scholars, muftis and specialists worldwide.
Ambassador Youssef also confirmed SIS’s commitment to facilitating media coverage of the conference, noting that a dedicated portal has been created on the agency’s website with multilingual content. He added that 50 foreign correspondents have already registered to attend, and SIS will continue to follow up on the conference’s outcomes, especially those related to family issues, integrating them into its awareness agenda through provincial media centres.
