The Egyptian Cabinet media centre denied reports on drying up Siwa Oasis’ Fatnas Lake in the manner that negatively affects tourism in this area.
The center said in a statement Saturday that it contacted the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation over the matter and it categorically dismissed such reports, noting that water averages went down in the lake due to procedures taken for developing irrigation and sewage systems in the oasis.
The cabinet called on media outlets and social media users to verify the authenticity of news before publishing, to avoid perplexing public opinion and to contact the ministry’s official website or the Cabinet’s media center in case of any inquiry.
