The General Authority for Healthcare (GAH) has activated central and branch-level crisis and emergency rooms across all governorates implementing the comprehensive health insurance system, as part of precautionary measures to monitor expected weather fluctuations and ensure a swift response to any health developments.

The emergency rooms will operate continuously on Wednesday and Thursday, March 25–26, covering Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez and Aswan.

Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of GAH and supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, said the activation forms part of an integrated crisis management system. The central and branch-level rooms operate around the clock, maintaining direct links to enable real-time monitoring and rapid decision-making.

He added that the crisis units continuously assess readiness across healthcare facilities, ensuring emergency departments and intensive care units are fully operational. They also monitor the availability of medicines, medical supplies, blood reserves and derivatives, while verifying backup power sources and emergency plans to maintain uninterrupted healthcare services despite adverse weather conditions.

El-Sobky highlighted the close coordination between emergency rooms and ambulance services to guarantee the rapid transfer and effective treatment of patients.

He stressed that the integration between central and branch emergency rooms demonstrates the efficiency of the authority’s crisis management system, allowing precise field monitoring and timely decision-making while ensuring continuous delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

Sobky affirmed that crisis and emergency rooms will continue to operate with real-time monitoring, guaranteeing prompt and efficient healthcare services for beneficiaries in all governorates under the comprehensive health insurance system.
