French Ambassador for Human Rights Delphine Borione has voiced her support for a constructive and inclusive National Dialogue, the French Embassy in Cairo said in a recent statement.
Borione was here for a two-day visit on 9-10 May to conduct interviews with officials, lawmakers and members of the National Council for Women and the National Council for Human Rights.
The ambassador also praised the courage and commitment of civil society representatives, with whom she had fruitful discussions, the embassy added.
“The existence of a pluralistic and dynamic civil society is the condition for stability and development,” the embassy said.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi launched the National Dialogue during the family iftar event in April 2022.
The dialogue opens its doors for “all political forces without exception” but not for the parties that have behaved violently or sponsored terrorist attacks.
The dialogue aims to reach a common ground on priority issues in society on the political, economic, and social tracks.
