CAIRO – Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad discussed during a meeting Sunday with Regional Director of Africa French Development Agency (AFD) Christian Yoka and his accompanying delegation preparations for UN Climate Change Conference COP27 Egypt will host in 2022.
The minister reiterated the importance of cooperation between Egypt and the AFD, especially in the climate file.
Fouad said COP27 will give attention to issues of key importance to the African Continent, including climate change adaption measures, that all African countries are in dire need for to face up to climate change threats.
The upcoming UN climate gathering will also focus on climate finance mechanisms, together with linking all channeled funds to countries’ needs.
For his part, the AFD director general voiced the agency’s preparedness to cooperate with Egypt in preparation for COP27, with a view to supporting all African-related climate issues.
