CAIRO – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates announced Sunday the success of intensive communications and efforts made by Egyptian State to secure the release of three Egyptian citizens who had been kidnapped in Mali.
All efforts came as part of continued round-the-clock follow-up on the process of securing the citizens’ release and after extensive coordination with the Malian government through the Egyptian Embassy in Bamako, as well as with all State institutions and the consular sector of the ministry.
The ministry confirmed – in an official statement – “that stemming from its responsibilities and its full commitment to continually monitoring the conditions of the nation’s sons and daughters around the world, it works to provide the highest levels of care, support and protection for them and to ensure the removal of any obstacles they may face, based on its national duty and its constant keenness on safeguarding their rights and interests abroad.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also renewed its call for all Egyptian citizens residing in the Republic of Mali to fully comply with the instructions and laws of the local authorities, to carry identification documents at all times and to exercise the utmost caution. It further urged them to avoid traveling outside the capital to other cities and regions at the present time, in order to preserve their safety and security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues its communications with the Malian authorities and with the Egyptian Embassy in Bamako to emphasize these instructions and ensure safety of Egyptian citizens residing in Mali.
