Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed the urgent need to preserve the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan, as well as the country’s national assets and state institutions, during a trilateral meeting held to discuss developments in Sudan and efforts to end the ongoing conflict.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan Mohi El-Din Salem and Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos.
During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty underscored the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to bring the conflict to an end through dialogue and negotiation, while creating the necessary conditions for a sustainable political settlement that reflects the aspirations of the Sudanese people and protects their national interests.
The trilateral discussions addressed the evolving situation in Sudan and explored ways to build upon current de-escalation efforts with a view to creating an environment conducive to a lasting political settlement and the restoration of security and stability.
The meeting also examined avenues for strengthening regional and international engagement to support efforts to end the conflict, safeguard Sudan’s state institutions and national cohesion, and advance a political process capable of addressing the aspirations of the Sudanese people while preserving the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
