Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty underlined the depth of the historic and strategic relations binding Egypt and Oman, especially after a visit by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Muscat in 2022 and a visit by Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to Egypt in 2023.

He highlighted directives of leaderships of both countries on furthering relations at all levels and taking tangible steps to meet the aspiration of people to achieve more progress and prosperity.

Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting in Muscat Monday with Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said.

The meeting tackled means of enhancing bilateral ties alongside a host of issues of mutual concern.

The foreign minister conveyed the greetings of President Sisi to Sultan Haitham and the Omani people and his wishes to achieve more progress and prosperity.

He voiced appreciation to the wise leadership of the Omani sultan and the positive role played by Oman at the regional and international levels.

He asserted keenness on promoting economic, trade and cultural cooperation with Oman.

The foreign minister reviewed the institutional reforms carried out to ease measures for investors, especially updating the legislative mechanism of the public sector, in light of the government’s interest in luring foreign investments.

He asserted preparedness of Egyptian companies to promote their contribution to infrastructure development projects in Oman in light of Egypt’s long experience in this domain.

Abdelatty underlined the importance of cooperation to promote Arab security, accentuating Egypt’s keenness on coordination and consultation with Oman in consolidating security and stability in the region, especially in light of the unprecedented tension in the Middle East.

The meeting tackled a host of regional issues of mutual concern, topped by the Palestinian cause and the continued Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the Egyptian efforts to contain regional escalation and clinching an agreement for ceasing fire and releasing hostage.

Both sides exchanged views on the conditions in Syria, Yemen, Sudan and Libya.

The talks also tackled the Red Sea file and the importance of ensuring security for international trade as this has a direct impact on the security of the countries bordering the Red Sea.
