Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aaty has reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national institutions, rejecting any attempts to divide the country or establish parallel entities.
Abdel-Aaty also stressed the importance of reaching a purely Sudanese-owned political settlement that safeguards the Sudanese people’s resources and fulfils their aspirations for security and stability.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting on Sunday with Sudanese Finance and Economic Planning Minister Jibril Ibrahim, which addressed ways to strengthen the historic and fraternal relations between Egypt and Sudan, particularly in the financial and economic fields.
The two ministers discussed enhancing co-operation and exchanging expertise in financial policies, promoting economic, trade and investment ties, removing obstacles to trade and increasing bilateral trade.
They also explored expanding co-operation in infrastructure rehabilitation, particularly roads and transport, as well as the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, to support Sudan’s early recovery and reconstruction efforts and benefit from Egyptian expertise and capabilities.
Abdel-Aaty and Ibrahim further discussed strengthening co-operation and exchanging expertise and capabilities across the financial and economic sectors.
The Foreign Minister reviewed preparations for the inaugural African Business Summit, to be held within the framework of the El Alamein Business Forum in Africa.
He highlighted the forum’s role in strengthening economic and investment partnerships among African countries and stressed the importance of Sudanese participation in advancing bilateral economic and investment co-operation and supporting development and reconstruction efforts in Sudan.
The meeting also addressed the evolving situation in Sudan, with Abdel-Aaty reiterating Egypt’s commitment to supporting the Sudanese people and preserving the country’s unity and institutions.
