Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to developing bilateral relations with Slovenia and activating mechanisms of joint cooperation in a way that reflects the depth of political ties between the two countries.

He highlighted the importance of strengthening economic and investment partnerships to serve mutual interests.

Abdelatty’s remarks came at a meeting on Monday with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, as part of his visit to Slovenia to participate in the Bled Strategic Forum.

The meeting focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange views on issues of mutual interest.

The discussion touched on available opportunities for cooperation in several key sectors, most notably energy, transportation, ports, and labor.

Abdelatty invited the Slovenian side to expand its investments in the Egyptian market, positioning Egypt as a key gateway to the African continent.

Both sides also discussed the importance of intensifying political consultations in light of Slovenia’s non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, which opens the door for greater coordination on regional and international issues.

Abdelatty praised Slovenia’s positive role within EU institutions in supporting partnership with Egypt.

On the regional level, the foreign minister reviewed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, stressing Egypt’s commitment to reaching a ceasefire and ensuring the safe delivery of humanitarian aid.

He commended Slovenia’s balanced positions on the matter.

The foreign minister also praised Slovenia’s honorable stance and its recognition of the State of Palestine last year.

He emphasized the need for the international community—particularly the European Union—to assume its responsibilities in addressing Israel’s grave violations against civilians and exert real pressure to halt the escalation and immediately stop the use of starvation as a weapon.

He pointed out to existing European mechanisms that could be activated in this context and stressed the need for concrete and effective steps by the EU to push Israel to accept the ceasefire proposal.
