Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met with Makhtar Diop, Executive Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), on the sidelines of the World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh, and Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom.

The Minister expressed appreciation for IFC’s role in supporting Egypt’s private sector, particularly in priority areas such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, mining, infrastructure, and healthcare. He highlighted Egypt’s economic and structural reforms, including the State Ownership Policy Document and the government’s IPO program, which reflect Egypt’s commitment to creating an attractive investment climate and ensuring macroeconomic stability.

Abdel-Aati underscored the growing role of Egyptian private companies in development projects across Africa, especially in infrastructure and energy, and called for enhanced trilateral cooperation with IFC to support African economies. He also addressed the impact of regional military escalation on the global economy, noting Egypt’s resilience thanks to reforms such as adopting a flexible exchange rate system.

Deputy Prime Minister Hussein Issa reaffirmed the government’s priority of empowering the private sector, while Minister Mohamed Farid outlined national efforts to improve the business environment through tax and customs incentives, digitalized services, and updated investment legislation. Minister Ahmed Rostom stressed Egypt’s commitment to continuing economic reforms to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth.

Mr. Diop praised Egypt as a promising market in the region and confirmed IFC’s commitment to expanding cooperation. He noted that upcoming projects will include digital transformation, green economy, and clean energy initiatives, reinforcing Egypt’s sustainable development agenda and investment appeal.
