CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty and Tanzanian Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Co-operation Mahmoud Thabit Kombo inaugurated on Wednesday the Egyptian-Tanzanian joint business forum.

A group of high-level Egyptian businessmen and a senior delegation in the different sectors of construction, building, chemical industries, agriculture, pharmaceutical, medical equipment and maritime transport took part in the event in addition to Tanzanian businessmen and representatives from the Investment Ministry and parliamentarians from both countries.

Abdelatty asserted Egypt’s keenness on promoting economic and trade co-operation with the African countries and encouraging the Egyptian companies to intensify their work at all the levels for boosting development in Africa and creating real partnerships on the basis of mutual interest.

Abdelatty reviewed the Egyptian manufacturing potentials to meet the needs of the African countries in the different sectors including the food products, industrial and chemical goods, wood products and requirements of construction and building.

He also reviewed the activities of the Egyptian companies in the field of construction and building of power grids in Africa especially in Tanzania.

He asserted Egypt’s great interest in boosting co-operation with Tanzania in the field of building dams and hydroelectric power generation with full support of all the Egyptian institutions.

Abdelatty shed light on trade agreements linking Egypt with several countries especially the COMESA member states.

He said that the Egyptian government is looking forward to cooperation with foreign companies to provide the necessary information on the investment opportunities available in Egypt and guarantee getting the companies to work in the Egyptian market to promote the role of the private sector.
