CAIRO – Egyptian Foreign Ministry hosted on Tuesday the 2nd ministerial meeting of the Supreme Standing Committee for Human Rights (SSCHR) that was formed by prime minister’s decision no. 2396 of 2018.
The meeting was held under Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty and in presence of Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi, Justice Minister Adnan Fangry, Minister of the Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication Mahmoud Fawzy, Head of the State Information Service Diaa Rashwan and Secretary General of Egypt’s National Council for Childhood and Motherhood Sahar al Sunbati.
The meeting aims at preparing for Egypt’s participation in the comprehensive period review session for human rights in Egypt due at the Human Rights Council (OHCHR) in Geneva in January, which is an important opportunity to review national efforts related to promoting and protecting human rights in Egypt and listening to recommendations presented by countries to boost these efforts within the framework of subjective constructive dialogue on the basis of mutual respect.
The committee tackled measures taken within the framework of preparations for discussing a UN report to contribute to clarifying real efforts exerted nationally to promote, respect and protect human rights.
